Spring Greens and Wild Garlic Workshops

We are delighted to be working with Emily Murphy again this year to show you the delights of foraging. No need to worry about prices in the shops if you can find food for free!
The first events of 2022 will be based around the great recipes for wild garlic.
Join a relaxing walk along the river's edge stopping at any edible or poisonous plants that we see. We will discuss how to identify them and, if edible, their culinary uses. Moving up the river, we will focus on the wild garlic, discussing any poisonous lookalikes and what can be done to enjoy and preserve this fantastic ingredient.
We will finish our walk by listening to some folklore on wild garlic and sampling some delicious goodies! Wild garlic and cheddar scones topped with wild garlic butter, wild garlic pesto pinwheels and flatbreads with wild garlic hummus.
You will take away a leaflet with a brief overview of this special plant, pictures and descriptions of the poisonous lookalikes and some recipes for you to try at home.
The walk will take about two hours. There may be muddy paths and steep inclines.
Children are welcome for free.
Dogs can present difficulties in small, tight groups but are permitted if well behaved and on a lead.
A proportion of the ticket money will be donated to local wildlife charities.
